About Todmorden
Todmorden is an historically significant small market town at the head of the Calder Valley.
Traditionally the county boundary between Lancashire and Yorkshire passes through the centre of Todmorden, indeed through the centre of the Town Hall itself.
Largely unspoilt by modern progress, the town has a wonderful shopping area including both an open and covered market, which certainly caters for most of one's daily needs.
The size and range of property available within Todmorden is quite surprising, from a small one bedroom flat or two bedroom terraced property up to complete farmsteads nestling in the Pennine hills surrounding - a truly wonderful environment, particularly for those of you with young children.
Many of our local properties are built of traditional Yorkshire gritstone an enduring natural substance of guaranteed longevity.
The local schools for all age groups enjoy a good reputation with excellent results achieved. Public transport is also excellent. Todmorden boasts its own railway station and bus station. Those of you perhaps interested in commuting to Manchester and Leeds can do so without any difficulty.
The recently refurbished and re-opened Rochdale Canal passes down the Calder Valley and through Todmorden. The canal basin itself is an absolute haven for wildlife with many interesting and pleasant countryside walks following the length of the valley.
Why not visit Todmorden for a day in order to understand the unique character that this traditional township enjoys?
